It's time to start our unit on astronomy as we observe the moon phase every day for the next month (keep track on your moon calendar).Saturday was a full moon, and tonight is a waning gibbous.
In class, we discussed chapter 18, section 1:
- heliocentric/geocentric (made a Venn)
- electromagnetic spectrum (with Brainpop)
Although this site is about science, I find it interesting that throughout time, across the nations, among amateurs and astronomers our fascination with the moon does not wane. Knowing that the moon has scientific and romantic allure is delightful.
ReplyDeleteI like to incorporate astronomy with history and literature.
ReplyDeleteI went down by the river (Chattahoochee)and watched the moon come up on Saturday night. It was called the "super moon" as was to appear the largest in the last 18 years. Very cool and very big!
